This is an update from my 24 Hour take a Day Challenge.
I Did it!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!! I Did it, I took TIME for me, a whole 24 hours!! Woohoo!!! My experience from my take a Day Challenge has been Life Changing, Eye-Opening, Empowering and oh so Refreshing!!!!!
On Thursday March 31st 2016 at 3:04pm, I took a train to go to downtown Chicago IL. While I was waiting for the train to arrive, I met this brave retired lady and she wasn’t afraid to explore and go places by herself. When I told her about my take a day challenge she was thrilled for me, so much so that she started giving me all these pointers on what to do Downtown and what not to do Downtown. I felt like God had sent her my way to give me that extra boost of Peace, Empowerment and Protection right before my journey.
When I arrived, I walked all the way from Millennium Station to the hotel that I was staying at, The Warwick Allerton hotel, that I got a fantastic deal through Priceline. A side note, the day that I booked my hotel I called the Warwick hotel ahead of time and asked if they could upgrade my room for no charge. Woohoo, they upgraded my room for no additional charge and I got a king size bed to sleep in all by myself!! Being a mother of six beautiful children, my husband and I have always had an extra person or persons(our children) in our bed, so having a bed all to myself this was
divine!!
After I checked in, I left right back out to go to dinner. I had dinner at the Grand Lux Cafe and I sat in the rotunda room that overlooks part of the city.
It’s so beautiful!!
As I ate dinner, I did a little people watching below and thanked God for giving me Life. After dinner I was ready to shop. So I walked the magnificent mile and explored some stores in the area. I just love the TJ Maxx store of Chicago with the very BIG blinged out wall. To my surprise after two hours of exploring stores, I did not buy not one thing and I was ready to go back to my room.
Back in my room, I decided to take a long bath and pray. It was oh so Refreshing because all the cares and worries that had been plaguing my mind, was now been washed and soaked away, as I prayed all of them out. When I got out of the tub an hour in a half later, I felt so itchy and was so wrinkled but it was so worth it. I was now ready for bed and so I faced timed my wonderful husband and children to say good night and to tell them that I love them.
The next day, I woke up to hearing the bible playing on my iPhone, that I had playing all night long to help me sleep. I quickly turned it off because I just wanted quiet. During my quiet moment as I laid in my king size bed, I could hear God speak to my heart. I had just gotten quiet enough to hear Him. He spoke to my heart that I needed to face some fears and get rid of them. At this point I took out my note book and wrote down four fears that I was going to eradicate.
After discussing those fears with God, I tore up the paper and threw it away. God was empowering me to truly trust Him and their is no empowerment like one on one empowerment from our creator. God is awesome, I just love Him!! I then wrote down a declaration for myself and spoke out my mouth in faith, what I was choosing to do. Without going into to much detail and to give you an idea about what I had spoke, it was the opposite of the fears that I had just faced and I was speaking Life over me.
Once my quiet time was over, I ate a snack bar and got my workout clothes on, to go workout in the hotels gym. I did 30 minutes of cardio on the treadmill and I got someone to take a picture of me while I was Running.
A Win!!
I really enjoyed my workout and it gave me strength for the day. I then took a shower and got dressed to do a mini photo shoot for myself in the hotel. I love to take pictures and I wasn’t always that way. There was a time that I used to hate the way I looked and I would always run from the camera, now I’m always in front of the camera (Lol).
With my long white skirt, my Aqua blue tube top and all my super chic accessories on, I was ready for my close up. I had the concierge of the hotel and couple of random people taking my pictures. It was so much FUN and so memorable!! I quickly changed into my going home outfit and put on my shirt by Union 28 Apparel that said “I Love My Husband” because I Love my Husband and I am so thankful for him and I was very excited that I would get to see him and our children soon.
I packed up my stuff and took one last look at my room and in awe thanked and praised God for this Life changing experience. This was the first time ever that I had a whole 24 hours to myself and it was truly Life changing.
I feel like their is nothing that I can not do and this 24 hour challenge has just given me the drive and the momentum that I CAN do anything!!
On April 1st 2016 at 1:00pm, I checked out of my hotel room 2110.
I really enjoyed my stay at the Warwick Allerton hotel. On my way out of the hotel, I met a lady that was visiting Chicago. As we were talking she was so sweet to ask me about my time away. I love meeting and connecting with people, so we exchanged numbers to keep in touch. I left out of the hotel and started walking towards Wildberry Pancakes and Cafe that was not far from Millennium Station, to get me some brunch.
At Wildberry’s I met a lady there and we shared our stories and encouraged one another to continue to be who we are, trust God and continue to choose to Live a victorious Life. It was a great time and I got to pray with her regarding healing for her mom that was in the hospital. We also exchanged numbers to keep in touch.
I was late getting to my three o’clock train and I missed it. So I had an whole extra 45 minutes to myself before I got on the next train and I had an whole extra 45 minutes on the train ride home. As I looked out of the window on my train ride home, I just relaxed and reflected on this Life Changing, Eye-Opening, Empowering and oh so Refreshing experience, all the while thanking God for it!!
I hope that you choose to take TIME for valuable you. Enjoy your Day!! Please share your thoughts and comments below and please share this with an awesome person that you know!! Be blessed!!

This is totally inspiring because you “Showed up” for your day. You looked fabulous & took yourself to beautiful places you deserved rest in. I’m most impressed that you included physical fitness as part of me time. My take away was that you prepared for your day like you were going to meet up with the love of your life… Which you were!

Hi, that sounds amazing. We all need time away to refresh from the daily routines and thoughts that involve life. Sometimes we do this at home for a few hours but rarely 24 hours, especially if you are married and have children. There is something different about being out of your usual surroundings the give you a new look at things. I am happy to hear you took God with you and decided to make yourself available to him.
You could have been selfish and concentrated on yourself but you decided to refresh others while refreshing yourself and God rewarded you.

Charmaine, thank you for sharing so fully your experience! You painted a lovely, peaceful, and inspiring picture. It was fun to see your pictures and enjoyable to read of your experiences. It was encouraging to learn how God spoke to you and through you during this time. I’m impressed by your openness to the Lord and your boldness to step out and do a new thing. Your story has touched me (I actually started feeling relaxed and happy as if I were there) and inspired me to dream and plan my own time away. I am so glad you got to enjoy this time of refreshing for yourself! 😃
